Coyote Advertising and CSUSB students take home 41 ‘ADDYs’ for advertising creativity

Cal State San Bernardino’s Coyote Advertising and design students took home 41 awards from the American Advertising Federation Inland Empire Chapter’s recent gala honoring the top advertising created in the region in 2016.

The AAF Inland Empire Chapter’s American Advertising Awards gala took place March 17 at the Mission Inn Hotel and Spa in Riverside, and honored professional and student work in San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

Coyote Advertising’s first foray in the professional category earned it 10 silver and bronze awards, while CSUSB earned 31 gold, silver and bronze awards, second only to the Art Institute of California’s 34, in the student category.

“Winning 10 professional ADDY awards is a testament to the quality of work that students in the Coyote Advertising program are producing,” said Jacob Poore, manager of the Coyote Advertising program, which is housed in CSUSB’s College of Arts and Letters. “Even though Coyote Advertising is a 100-percent, student-powered team, our creative work is being acknowledged alongside the greatest professional Inland Empire ad agencies.”

“Year after year I am blown away with the work that is being produced by our students,” said Andrew Oakes, CSUSB assistant professor of graphic design. “This year was our best show ever with both the number of awards won, as well the number of Gold ADDYs taken home. I was very happy, and it is a testament to the hard work of our department preparing these students to perform so well in so many different categories.  I am extremely proud of our winners and the work that they created to receive such high honors.”
